La Table de la Réserve This Michelin-rated restaurant offers outstanding Mediterranean cuisine. It is located in the exclusive La Réserve Hotel and Spa. It is quite formal with lovely views of the water. $$$

African Queen Situated on the harbor among a row of restaurants, African Queen has delighted guests for decades with its fresh fish options and some of the best pizza around. The service is excellent, if not a bit snooty. $$

La Chevre d'Or This 2-star Michelin rated restaurant is located in a medieval village on a clifftop within the charming Relais Chateau Hotel. The food lives up to its reputation. Combined with a unique setting and panoramic view of the Riviera, this restaurant offers a memorable meal. $$$$

Safari If you find yourself hungry after shopping in the old town, reserve a table at this classic restaurant in the heart of Cours Saleya. It has a broad menu and is one of the few restaurants the locals love in a very touristic part of Nice. $$

Peixes This is one of my favorites! Located right on the edge of Place Massena and Cours Saleya, this fresher than fresh seafood restaurant is super small and cozy. It has limited seating inside and a few tables outside. The bar is a great place to sit and watch the limited menu being prepared. $$

La Merenda Located near the Opera and right outside of Cours Saleya. La Merenda offers the same limited menu week after week (with a few seasonal specials) where each dish comes out consistently cooked to perfection. There is often a line but worth every moment of waiting. Open Monday-Friday, Lunch & Dinner only with 2-seatings. No reservations or phone number, and cash only. In person same day reservations OK. $$

Le Local This traditional Italian Restaurant is extremely inviting and located in the spirited Port District. It has a large menu and their selection of pasta is extensive and very hearty. Guests are treated like family and the restaurant has a dedicated local following. $

Al Taglio This is my favorite “Go To” corner joint in the old town. Located in a small alley (42 Rue Droite) and a little challenging to find, it serves unique square pieces of pizza, lovingly created by hand. The pizza crust is covered with unusual but delicious toppings which sound like they won’t work but are amazingly delicious. For example, fig and brie or truffle and squash both melt in your mouth. There are just four tables in this mostly take-out restaurant. I use any excuse to stop by there for a quick snack! $
